Falling Away from You is a perspective of hope in the midst of tragedy, triumph in the face of what seemed like unbeatable odds, and how one family came together to help bring back the son and brother they loved so much. It is a realistic perspective on courage, determination and one young man’s struggle and drive to beat the odds, one step at a time.
Falling Away From You One Family Journey through Traumatic Brain Injury eBook Nicole Bingaman
After suffering 6 vertebrae fractures after falling down a flight of stairs at our home several years ago, I was very interested in reading this book, based on the synopsis. I can't begin to count the times I found myself in tears while reading this true story. This so easily could be me. Instead, my injuries didn't require surgery, or even a long hospital stay. They did require wearing an uncomfortable brace from my neck to waist for about 6 months, and reduced work hours for the same period. The fractures were my only injuries. In the years since, I've often reflected on just how fortunate I was to suffer such minor injuries from my fall. This book really opened my eyes as to what might have been.
The book taught me about just how devastating traumatic brain injury can be, not only to the victim, but to virtually everyone in the family, as well as friends. In particular, the life of the family will never be the same. Reading about the way this young man's life has been changed forever by this accident was heart-wrenching. In particular, the insight into the devastation of the immediate family from the accident, and how they have dealt with the aftermath was most eloquently described. I felt I was inside the mother's heart and mind, living through her pain and anguish.

Falling Away From You One Family Journey through Traumatic Brain Injury eBook Nicole Bingaman Reviews
I spent about a week reading and following this mother's journey during my quiet time. While reading Falling Away From You, I could not turn the pages fast enough to find out what happens next, wondering what would the next step be and what it would bring. I felt frustrated at the medical setbacks, saddened by the emotional effect this tragedy was having on all, and hopeful that things would somehow come together for them. By the end of this book, I felt as if a piece of my heart belonged them, and realized the many dynamics of dealing with TBI. Beautifully written and a must read if you have ever lived, loved, and/or lost...so basically I recommend this book to everyone.
I just finished reading your phenomenal book "Falling Away From You". It took me a while to get through it.....as I read word by word, savoring each one....relating to so much of what you wrote, crying through so much of it.
What amazing strength you display...by being so brutally honest with your thoughts and feelings. Kudos to you for allowing yourself this self expression.
I think your book is a winner. For someone who has experienced a TBI or other brain injury, it is cathartic to know someone else understands our innermost thoughts, feelings and pain.
For someone who fortunately does not have experience, this book is an eye opener into our world and a necessary read.
An unthinkable, forever-changing, destructive and unfair accident happened in an instant to the oldest son in this wonderful family. Somehow the author (and Mother) not only moves through this tragedy with as much grace and strength as you can ever imagine, but also creates a beautifully written book that provides so much for its readers. Falling Away From You will inspire you to never take any moment for granted and to always meet seemingly impossible challenges with optimism and persistence. It will remind you how important family is and will teach you about traumatic brain injury and those who live with it every day. It is heart-breaking yet shares the lighter, funnier moments as well, and is written with such incredible honesty that you will feel like you know them personally when you're finished reading. I actually do happen to have the privilege of knowing the author and family personally and, believe it or not, they are even more special than this book can ever describe. Love wins!
filled with gut wrenching raw emotion, this is an in depth look at a family's very real struggle. As parents, it's our "job" to protect our children, and Taylor could have been any one of our kids. I laughed and I cried multiple times during this book-Nicole has a way of story telling that keeps you on the edge of your seat, and unable to put this book down. My heart goes out to the entire Bingaman family, and I follow them religiously on facebook and rejoice in how far this young man has come. He is truly an inspiration of his own! Hope he writes the next book from HIS perspective! God bless you all, and continued successes to Taylor as well as the rest of the family!
I've read several touching accounts written by parents of Traumatic Brain Injury survivors, but none as heart-felt and touching as Nicole Vinson Bingaman's story of her son Taylor's devastating TBI and his fight back. A young man very close to me was hit by a drunk driver almost a year and a half ago and I've seen up close the profound effect a serious injury like Taylor's has, not just on the individual, but on the parents, the family, the friends and all those who care. But, it is the mothers, like Nicole, and like my friend's mom, who bear the brunt of their child's catastrophic injury; their love is immeasurable, and there determination to see their child healed, relentless. Nicole has shared the emotional roller coaster that Taylor's injury and its aftermath has taken her family on with frank and disarming honesty and sensitivity. "Falling Away From You" is a beautifully written account of hope and resilience. If you know or care for someone who has suffered a TBI, you should read this book. If you just want to be inspired by a mother's love and resilience, you should read this book; you will learn that "Love Wins".
I thought it was a well written book, very detailed, written by an awesome mother who was very committed to her son with major tbi injury. I am a major tbi survivor myself, so I totally understand a lot of what she and her son were facing. Your previous life is taken away and it is up to you to find a new life you can deal with. This mother is doing an awesome job and her son is very gifted to have a mom who loves, cares and understands him so well. The book had a lot of complete truth.
